Peter Balk

My name is Peter Balk, born in 1965 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. I started stone carving in 2006. Intuitively, not planned, sometimes starting from just an idea or theme.

Creation but also by various forms of art and architecture inspire me. I choose a stone that appeals to me and once started I only have to follow the form that slowly or sometimes suddenly arises. I am always surprised by the result. The enormous variability among stones insprires me endlessly.

Occasionally I work on assignment.
